The Boston Massacre: A True and Honest Account from a Soldier in His Majesty’s Army
Mr. Kersey
Directions: Imagine you are a young soldier in His Majesty’s army. You are stationed in the colonial city of Boston and you have been ordered to keep the peace. On March 5, 1770, you were unlucky enough to be on duty the day one of your comrades called for help in subduing an angry mob of colonists. Somehow your fellow soldiers shot and killed five colonists during the chaos. Now it is time to sort out what really happened. People will be on trial for their lives over this incident. The truth is important.
Write an account of what happened at the “Boston Massacre” in your own words. Use your book and other sources to help you. Did you fire your weapon? Were you ordered to fire? Were you in danger from the crowd? How do you feel about colonists? Your account should be detailed, complete, and free of spelling or grammar errors.
